Current account - chip and PIN

Improved security with chip & PIN

You may have noticed that more and more shops are asking for your personal identity number (PIN) when you buy goods. From now on, everything you buy will be confirmed using your PIN, and the option to sign will no longer be available in Europe.

If you don't have a PIN or you have forgotten it, please log into your cahoot account and order a new one through 'account manager'. Remember it's easy to change your PIN, at any Santander cash machine, to one that you find easier to remember.

You will benefit from these changes because chip and PIN reduces the amount of card fraud and hassle that goes with it. As a result, you get more peace of mind.

Using your PIN will help prove that you are the genuine owner of the card. Built-in microchip technology holds your card information so securely that, realisitcally, it cannot be copied or altered.

Combine the two, and the likelihood of your card being used fraudulently is dramatically reduced.
